New Delhi: Senior BJP leader from Bihar Hukumdev Narain Yadav may replace Hamid Ansari as the new vice-president of India, a media report said on Thursday.

Citing BJP sources, Dainik Bhaskar reported that the top party leaders, as well as the NDA, have already agreed on his candidature.

Yadav, a leader of the OBC community, has been a five-time MP from Bihar.

He is known for making fiery speeches in parliament.

According to the report, BJP also hopes to get the support of JD(U) on Yadav's candidature during the presidential election.

The tenure of two-term vice-president Hamid Ansari will end in July.

75-year-old Hukumdev, who had been a union minister of state in the past, is an MP from Bihar's Madhubani.
