It's absolute nonsense: P Chidambaram on CBI raids

The raids were conducted in connection with FIPB clearances given to INX Media.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided the residences of former union minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram in connection with alleged favours granted in Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media.

The CBI launched searches at multiple premises linked to Chidambaram across Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Gurugram.

The raids were conducted in connection with FIPB clearances given to INX Media (now called 9X Media) when it was run by Peter Mukerjea and Indrani Mukherjea, and Chidambaram was then the finance minister in the Manomohan Singh government.

Speaking to PTI, the senior Congress leader said, "You should have called your CBI friends.......Should I stop writing? (against the government)."

"I mean...(this is) absolute nonsense," he added.
