Asian Games 2018, Day 7: How It Happened

On the seventh day of sporting events at the 18th edition of the Asian Games 2018, India currently stands at the 8th position in the tally with 29 medals.

JAKARTA: After the conclusion of various sporting events on the seventh day of the 18th Asian Games 2018 on August 25, Saturday, India stands at the 8th spot in the tally with a total of 29 medals, which include 7 Gold, 5 Silver and 17 Bronze medals. Indian athletes initially failed to impress on the seventh day of the Asian Games but impressed with their performances as the day progressed. In one of the major highlights of the day, Indian Women's Hockey team defeated South Korea 4-1 in the Pool B match. In another high for the Indian athletics, Tajinderpal Singh Toor bagged a Gold - seventh - for India, setting a new Asian Games record with a brilliant attempt of 20.75m in Men's Shot Put. Dipika Pallikal opened India's account on the 7th Day by winning a Bronze after losing to Nicol David in Squash semifinal. Earlier, ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal reached badminton quarterfinals. Minutes later, Joshana Chinappa (31) settled for bronze after losing to Sivasangari Subramaniam of Malaysia in women's squash singles semi-final. In another Squash event, top seed Saurav Ghosal went down 2-3 against Chun Ming Au of Hong Kong in Men's Singles Semifinals to settle for Bronze. 

Indian boxer Pavitra moved into QF (Women's Light 60-kg, Round of 16) after beating her Pakistani opponent Perveen Rukhsar. Earlier, India's athletics camping of the Games started on a high as Muhammed Anas and Arokia Rajiv qualified for the men's 400m semi-finals.
