Vaccination for the entire adult population was schedulded to start from May 1, but many states are facing supply constraints and have postponed the drive.

New Delhi: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the COVID-19 vaccination drive from May 1 to inoculate the 18-44 age group will take place between 1 pm to 6 pm in five hospitals of Mumbai.

The immunization centres in Chhattisgarh are fully ready for the COVID-19 vaccination campaign starting from May 1, said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. 

Bihar government declared summer vacations for universities and colleges from 1st May to 31st May, in view of the COVID19 situation.

In another update, at least 12 people were killed after a fire broke out at Patel Welfare COVID Hospital in Gujarat`s Bharuch on the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.

Amid raging surge in COVID-19 cases, many countries have extended support to India in the form of emergency medical supplies.

Election Commission approaches Supreme Court challenging the Madras HC order where it lambasted the poll panel for failure to maintain Covid protocol during poll campaigns and said poll panel “should be put up on murder charges" for being the "most irresponsible institution".

Six COVID-19 patients died in ICU ward and two in main ward due to oxygen shortage on May 1. "We could not save them even after making effort from our end. Since this wave hit the country, we've been demanding oxygen from the govt," Dr SCL Gupta, Medical Director of Delhi's Batra Hospital was quoted as saying by ANI. 

"Our executive director is in regular touch with govt officers concerned and has been updating them about our oxygen stock. INOX and Goel -- two oxygen suppliers supply us oxygen. Neither of them picks up our call," Gupta added.
