A Navaneethakrishnan, counsel for Tamil Nadu: We believe in the verdict of the court and respect it. But surely, this is not enough. We have raised the issue of shortage of water in the state with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari who has two plans to address the issue. One of the plans is to link river Godavari with Kallanai.

The SC said that the share of water for Kerala and Puducherry remain unchanged. The 2007 tribunal award allowed 30 TMC of water to Kerala and 7 TMC to Puducherry.

Karnataka will have to provide 177.25 TMC water to Tamil Nadu instead of 192 TMC of water which it earlier used to give. Karnataka, thus, will get an additional 14.75 TMC as compared to the previous 2007 order.
