Dense fog and cold wave in Delhi, Chandigarh
IMD has issued a warning for fog and cold waves and predicted severe cold wave conditions in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Dense to very dense fog is also likely UP during the next 24 hours, said IMD.

Weather Updates: Delhi schools asked to remain shut till THIS date over cold wave
The Delhi government has advised all private schools to remain closed till January 15 due to the cold wave. The advisory from the Directorate Of Education comes on a day Delhi recorded the lowest temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius. Most of the private schools in Delhi had winter vacations till January 8 and were scheduled to open today. Government schools in Delhi will also remain shut till January 15.

IMD Weather Alert: No 'cold wave' in these northern states from 10 January
The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) forecasted that the cold wave and cold day conditions that has gripped the northern and north-western part of India will subside in the next 48 hours. The weather department said that this will happen owing to an oncoming Western Disturbance that will affect the weather in the states of Punjab and Haryana and western Himalayas on 10 January.

Domestic airline IndiGo tweeted that flight timings were affected "due to dense fog and poor visibility" in Delhi, and advised passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport. Officials have said that they expect the cold wave to begin subsiding from 10 January.

Weather Forecast: Delhi witnesses one of the foggiest days of the season so far
Delhi: The minimum temperature in parts of the city dropped to 1.9C on Sunday. Other northern states have also been grappling with an acute cold wave, with temperatures plummeting to -6C (21F) in Indian-administered Kashmir. India's weather department declares a cold wave when the minimum temperature is less than 4C. On Sunday, Delhi witnessed one of the foggiest days of the season so far, with a thick mist covering the city for several hours. The meteorological department has asked people to "avoid or limit outdoor activities" until weather conditions improve. It has also warned people to be careful while driving through dense fog.
