The IMD has now removed the heavy rainfall warning.
"Now rainfall will decrease, but light to moderate rainfall to continue in Mumbai region," said IMD Mumbai scientist Ajay Kumar. "We have removed warning (for heavy rainfall). Intermittent rainfall is likely over city and suburbs for next 48 hrs."

Mumbai has recorded its second highest rainfall in September in a span of 12 hours, reported ANI. On August 29, Mumbai recorded 297.6 mm rain in nine hours (8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.), higher than any 24-hour rain in August in a decade which had brought the city to a halt, as commuters waded through chest-deep waters.

The Meteorological Department (MeT) issued alerted high tide on Wednesday afternoon at 12.03 pm of 4.5mm. The department also warned for heavy rainfall in next 24 hours.
