Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy speaks in Lok Sabha on women's safety: Women safety is a high priority for the Government and several initiatives have been taken for their safety across the country. "The Criminal Law (Amendment), Act 2013 was enacted for effective deterrence against sexual offences. Further, the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2018 was enacted to prescribe even more stringent penal provisions including death penalty for rape of a girl below the age of 12 years. The Act also inter-alia mandates completion of investigation and trials within 2 months each," he said.

Since 1990, at least 22,557 militants have been neutralized in incidents of terrorist violence by security forces till December 1st, 2019. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in his written reply to Lok Sabha said that regular attempts for infiltration by terrorists through the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir are sponsored and supported from across the border. Since August, 2019, 84 such attempts have been made from across the border and it is estimated that 59 such terrorist could have infiltrated into valley.
