PM Narendra Modi arrives home after concluding China-Myanmar tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived home after concluding his two-day trip to Myanmar. The PM earlier visited the reverred Shwedagon Pagoda and Kalibari Temple in Yangon and offered prayers there.

New Delhi / Yangon: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid a visit to the reverred Shwedagon Pagoda and Kali Bari Temple in Yangon and offered prayers there. Security was beefed up outside Yangon's Kalibari Temple ahead of PM Modi's visit. PM Modi is currently on a three-day bilateral trip to Myanmar.

Addressing a community program attended by Indians, PM Modi justified demonetisation, which has come recently under criticism, asserting that his government was not afraid of taking "big" and "tough" decisions in the interest of the country.

"In the national interest, we are not afraid of taking big and tough decisions because for us, the country is above politics. Whether it be the surgical strikes, demonetisation or GST, all decisions were taken without any fear or hesitation," PM Modi told the gathering.
