New Delhi: The new development in the NEET-UG 2024 Paper leak scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made its first arrests on Thursday in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. The investigating agency arrested two persons from Bihar's Patna, officials said.
Two suspects identified as Manish Prakash and Ashutosh Kumar, were arrested from Patna in connection with the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam. Two other suspects, Chintu and Mukesh, were taken into remand by the CBI. They were moved from Beur Jail and underwent medical examinations before being taken to the CBI office.
The CBI has filed six FIRs in the NEET paper leak incident till now.
Manish and Ashutosh allegedly offered secure locations to candidates before the examination where they were given leaked papers and answer keys, the officials said.
The NEET-UG examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to medical courses like MBBS, BDS and other related courses in government and private universities across the country.
This time NEET-UG annual examination was conducted on May 5 at 4,750 different centres in 571 cities, including abroad. More than 23 lakh candidates appeared for the medical entrance test.
The CBI registered its first FIR on Sunday, a day after the ministry announced to handover paper leak case to a central agency.
