Srinagar: The Pakistani Army again began indiscriminate firing and mortars from 1:50 pm on Tuesday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Naushera sector.

The Indian Army strongly retaliated to the unprovoked firing from the Pakistani side.

This comes after the Pakistan Army earlier in the day violated the ceasefire by shelling mortars and firing in the Rajouri and Poonch districts along the LoC.

Meanwhile, the authorities have sounded an alert and advised residents to stay indoors.

The latest ceasefire violation incidents come a day after an Army jawan and a minor girl were on Monday killed while four persons injured in heavy firing and mortar shelling by the Pakistan Army along the LoC in J&K's Poonch, Rajouri and Baramulla districts.

As the border tension raged, the Directors General of Military Operation (DGMO) of India and Pakistan spoke over the hotline. The DGMOs usually speak on Tuesdays but Monday's was an unscheduled conversation on Pakistan's request.

The DGMO noted that firing by Indian troops was initiated against armed intruders trying to sneak into India "from close proximity of Pakistan posts".
