SHOPIAN: An encounter is underway between security forces and terrorists in Laddi in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation after a brief exchange of fire. The security forces had received inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Security forces were in the process of laying cordon in Imamsahib area of Shopian following the information about the presence of terrorists when the ultras opened fire at them. The security forces retaliated to the attack, leading to a brief exchange of fire.
"Search operations have been launched and the cordon strengthened in the are but there has been no fresh firing reported so far," an official said.
The encounter comes a day after three militants were killed on Saturday in cross-firing with security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Three terrorists were killed in an operation in Danna in Bandipora district of north Kashmir," Srinagar-based defence spokesman, Col Rajesh Kalia, said.

Weapons and other war-like stores were recovered from the operation site.
