Srinagar: Shopian police on Friday identified four persons in connection with the murder of BJP youth president Gowher Bhat.

Two of the killers belong to terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) while the other two are from Hizbul Mujahideen group.

A case has been registered under section 302, 34 RPC,16 ULA(P) Act in Shopian Police station and the investigation is underway.

On Thursday, the district president of BJP youth wing was killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

Bhat had played a crucial role in organising first BJP state youth convention recently.

A police official said the body of the 30-year-old was recovered from an orchard in Kiloora.

He was a resident of Bongam area in Shopian. The police have registered a case and investigations are on, the official said.

Meanwhile, a BJP functionary said the deceased was associated with the party.

"Bhat was the district president of the BJP's youth wing," party's media in-charge for Kashmir, Altaf Thakur, said.
