JAMMU: The security forces on Saturday launched a major search operation in the Hajin town of north Kashmir following specific inputs about some terrorist hiding in the area.

According to reports, the search operation is being carried out jointly by the army, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The security forces have laid a siege to Towheed-Abad and Parray locality in Hajin town.

The army sources have confirmed that the security forces have launched a massive cordon-and-Search Operation (CASO) in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The operation was started following “specific” inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area.  

The sources also said that there is a massive deployment of security forces in some parts of the Hajin town.

Meanwhile, the J&K Governor NN Vohra reviewed the arrangements made for the annual Amarnath Yatra. 

In a related development, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army and Civil Administration today conducted a mock drill in Garnai forest area.

The mock drill was conducted with a motive to ensure quick relief for pilgrims trapped in the landslide or any other natural calamity during upcoming Amarnath Yatra, which commences from June 28.
