New Delhi: The terrorists who opened fire targeting the bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims were dressed in police uniforms, narrated the survivors of the deadly terror attack.
One of the survivors lamented her faded memories of the sound of broken glasses and her bleeding sister-in-law. Despite being seated at a window seat, she somehow managed to escape death.
"I counted five of them on the road and two on motor bikes. There could have been more. They were wearing police uniforms. So we were wondering as to why the police were firing on us,” India.com quoted the 50-year-old survivor as saying.
It was about to be evening and nearly 54 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were returning to Katra from the holy shrine on July 10.
Calling in mind the horrifying incident, another 57-year-old survivor from Gujarat’s Valsad district said, “One terrorist even tried to enter the bus but the cleaner closed the door and pushed him away.
"After driving for around 10 to 15 minutes, the driver stopped the bus near military vehicles, which were coming towards us after hearing the gunfire. Everybody was in a state of shock. The army took us out of the bus one by one," he concluded.
