Bengaluru: A young girl was adopted by the state government after she was rescued from Ejipura area of Bengaluru where four residential buildings partially collapsed on Monday. The parents of the girl were among the six people who died in the building collapse.
"Government has decided to adopt the girl and will take care of all her expenses," State Development Minister KJ George said.

The government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to injured. Local authorities claimed that the mishap occurred due to cylinder blast.
However, George said it was unlikely that the buildings collapsed due to blast. "Cylinders on both ground and first floor had no gas in them," he said.
An official from the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services said at least four more were suspected to be trapped under the debris. Nearly 40 fire services personnel are carrying out the rescue operations.
The city has been reeling under incessant rains over weekend. About 19 people died in rain-related incidents in the city. Three members of a family died after roof of their house collapsed due to heavy and incessant rain in Gadag district's Gajendragad on Sunday.
