THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hadiya, the Kerala woman who is at the centre of the controversy over her conversion from Hindu to Muslim, on Saturday said that wants to live with her husband.
"I am a Muslim. I want to go with my husband. Nobody forced me to convert," Hadiya said.
She will be produced before the Supreme Court in connection with the Kerela 'love jihad' case on November 27. She is being taken to Delhi amid heavy police security. Her parents are also accompanying her for the hearing.
Earlier in the day, the 27-year-old husband of Hadiya, Sheffin Jahan, filed a complaint alleging that attempts are being made to reconvert his wife to Hinduism.
Hadiya's case is at the centre of the 'love jihad' controversy in Kerala, which is being probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
25-year-old homoeopathic doctor, Hadiya, had converted to Islam last year after her marriage with Sheffin.
Her father KM Ashokan had approached the Kerala High Court alleging conspiracy in the marriage of his daughter with a Muslim and claimed that Sheffin has links with terror outfits.
Kerala State Women's Commission Chairperson MC Josephine had recently been denied permission to meet Hadiya. The Commission was scheduled to meet the 24-year-old woman but Hadiya's father told them that the family is looking after her and there is no need for such a visit.
