Thiruvananthapuram: A class 12 student has been suspended here over sexual overtures to a fellow schoolgirl after he allegedly hugged her longer than a congratulatory hug.

It has been alleged that the boy hugged the class 11 student in full glare of his teachers after she performed at an event.

An internal inquiry of the school has found him guilty of sexual misconduct and after which he has been suspended.

“The hug lasted for 5 minutes, longer than a congratulatory hug and was witnessed by teachers,” Principal of Trivandrum School Sebastian Joseph said.

He also claimed that the boy posted “indecent pictures” of them on Instagram and alleged that his parents did not co-operate in the probe.

However, the class 12 boy rejected the charges and alleged the girl student has been forced to give false statements against him, but she refused.

“The school's secretary used sexual slurs in front of my parents to describe the situation. I was served suspension letter 50 days after the incident. I want to write the exam and not lose a year,” the boy said.
