Pilgrimage to the Himalayan temples of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri resumed on Wednesday (October 20) with the weather clearing up across Uttarakhand. The pilgrimage to Badrinath, however, could not resume as the Pipalkoti-Joshimath-Badrinath stretch of the national highway remained blocked at several places due to landslides, Chardham Devasthanam Board Media incharge Harish Gaud said. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday (October 20) seized white powder material, suspected to be talc mixed with narcotics during raids conducted at a godown in Delhi in connection with the seizure of 3,000 kilograms of drugs at Gujarat`s Mundra Port. The NIA informed that the white powder material was seized with the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Division. (ANI)

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against two accused in the alleged murder of Dhanbad Judge Uttam Anand, who was mowed down by an auto-rickshaw on July 28, officials said on Wednesday (October 20). The CBI has filed the charge sheet against auto-rickshaw driver Lakhan Verma and his accomplice Rahul Verma. They are both in judicial custody, they said. CCTV camera footage showed that the judge was jogging on one side of a fairly wide road at Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad when a heavy auto-rickshaw veered towards him, hit him from behind and fled the scene, killing him.

Jammu and Kashmir police nabbed one person during a Joint Naka at Drabshalla Thathri, Kishtwar district at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday (October 20). Police also recovered a hand grenade from him. The arrested terrorist belongs to LeT and was sent the grenade by LeT terrorist Khobaib, based in Pakistan.

COVID-19: India records 14,623 new cases, 19,446 recoveries and 197 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases increases to 3,41,08,996, of which, 1,78,098 are active infections and 4,52,651 have died.

Uttarakhand: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday late night visited Haldwani and took information about the assistance being given to the people in the disaster-affected areas. He also directed officials to speed up the relief and rescue operations. Earlier, Dhami had informed that so far 34 people have died while 5 are missing in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains.
