IED blast in Naxal-hit Gadchiroli in Maharashtra on poll eve, 2 CRPF personnel injured

The injured jawans are being brought to Nagpur for medical treatment, said news agency ANI report.

New Delhi: At least two security personnel were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast and firing by Naxals in Etapalli of Gadchiroli district when they were returning to the base camp along with the polling party on Thursday.

The injured jawans are being brought to a hospital in Nagpur for medical treatment, an ANI report said. 

As per the report, the blast was triggered by the Naxals when the polling party was returning to the district headquarters after the voting was over. As the team reached Parsalgondi area, the IED was triggered and two C-60 commandos were seriously injured.

Earlier today, Naxals triggered an IED blast near a polling booth in Waghezari area, 150 metres from a polling booth, in the district. However, no casualty was reported in the incident. 

On Wednesday, Naxals denoted an IED at Gatta Jambia village in Etapalli tehsil when a polling party was heading for a polling station. A CRPF jawan was injured in the explosion. 

Gadchiroli was among the seven seats in Maharashtra where polling took place on Thursday. BJP's Ashok Nete is the sitting MP on the seat.
