Political bigwigs campaigned extensively on Sunday for the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha election 2019, voting for which will be held on May 19. Voting in the seventh phase will be held in 59 seats across eight states. These include 13 in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, 9 in West Bengal, 8 seats in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, 4 in Himachal Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand and 1 in Chhattisgarh.

Leaders from across party lines held rallies on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed 2 rallies in Uttar Pradesh and 2 public rallies in Madhya Pradesh. BJP President Amit Shah addressed 3 rallies in Himachal Pradesh and 1 in Punjab. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also addressed rallies in Mirzapur and Robertsganj while Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati addressed a rally in Punjab's Nawashahar.

# Former Bihar Minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday campaigned along with brother Tejashwi in several seats in the seats for the Rashtra Janata Dal. Calling his younger brother 'Arjun', Tej Pratap said that the opposition will be defeated and the RJD will win on all the seats.

# Prime Minister Modi while addressing a rally in Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh: "I got to know today that some terrorists infiltrated into Kashmir and they were killed by our security forces. Now some people will question why did Modi kill them when voting is underway. An armed terrorist is attacking, should my jawans go to the Election Commission to seek permission to kill him?"

# The chief electoral officer of Delhi has sent a notice to the BJP for "airing election-related content" on NaMo TV even after the silence period began, a senior official told news agency PTI on Saturday. The Delhi CEO Office had also said that since the NaMo TV was sponsored by the BJP, all recorded programmes displayed on the platform should be pre-certified by media certification and monitoring committee of Delhi and all political publicity contents displayed without pre-certification be removed immediately. 

# In another incident related to poll violence in Mednipur's Kanthi, the body of a TMC worker was recovered. Sudhakar Maiti, the TMC worker, had gone to visit a relative in a hospital on Saturday night but did not return home after his visit. Later, his body was recovered from Kanthi. Maiti's family alleges that he was murdered. (Read full report here)

# Similar to the situation in earlier phases, violence has been reported from West Bengal on Sunday too. Two BJP workers Ananta Guchait and Ranjit Maity were on Saturday shot at in Bhagabanpur, East Medinipur. Both the injured admitted to hospital. The BJP is holding the TMC responsible for the incident.

# Allegations and counter allegations are being levelled against the BJP and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Mamata has alleged that the BJP is using money to buy votes and demanded that all vehicles, including helicopters used by the PM and union ministers, be checked by the Election Commission. 

# On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) were clouded over allegations that party's West Delhi candidate Balbir Singh Jakhar paid Rs 6 crore for a Lok Sabha ticket. The charge was levelled by Jakhar's son Uday. However, Jakhar refuted the claim and said that he was not in contact with his son since long. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) though is questioning Kejriwal's silence over the allegations. "Today Kejriwal cannot remain silent. He has to answer. He has been slapped many times and each time he blames the BJP, but the man who hits him turns out to be from his own party," Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
