Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday expressed concern over the situation arising due to incessant rains in Mumbai and adjoining areas.

Both PM Modi and the Home Minsiter spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister and assured full support of the Centre.

"Spoke to Maharashtra CM @Dev_Fadnavis on the situation arising due to incessant rain in Mumbai & surrounding areas," Modi tweeted.

"Centre assures all possible support to the government of Maharashtra in mitigating the situation due to heavy rains in parts of the state," he added.

The prime minister urged the people of Mumbai and surrounding areas to stay safe and take all essential precautions in the wake of the heavy rains.

“Had a telephonic conversation with Maharashtra CM Shri @Dev_Fadnavis regarding the situation due to heavy rains in Mumbai and nearby areas,” Singh tweeted.

“I also assured the Maharashtra CM of all possible help from the Centre. The NDRF teams have already reached Mumbai for rescue & relief ops,” the Home Minsiter added.

Torrential rains have paralysed Maharashtra and high high alert has been issued in Mumbai.
