Sensex jumps over 340 points, Nifty above 10,850

The BSE Sensex ended 341.90 points or 0.95 percent higher to 36,213.38.

New Delhi: Markets rallied on Monday with the Sensex jumping over 340 points on heavy foreign fund inflows and increased buying by domestic institutional investors.

The BSE Sensex ended 341.90 points or 0.95 percent higher to 36,213.38 while the NSE Nifty jumped 88.45 points or 0.82 percent to 10,880.10.

Yes Bank, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, HCL Tech, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma,  Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, and Vedanta were the top gainers in the Sensex pack, rising by upto 3.24 percent.

Laggards were Coal India, SBI, Kotak Bank, Asian paint, L&T, ONGC, and PowerGrid, falling by upto 0.37 perecnt.

BSE IT index rose 2.463 percent, teck 2.11 percent, auto 1.11 percent, bankex 0.86 percent, healthcare 0.74 percent, FMCG 0.56 percent, metal 0.38 percent, power 0.31 percent and capital goods 0.14 percent.

On the other hand, infrastructure index fell 1.10 percent, realty 0.86 percent, oil & gas slipped 0.07 percent and PSU 0.05 percent.

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 6,311.01 crore, while DIIs made purchases of Rs 838.88 crore on Friday, provisional data showed.
