Patna: Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav on Sunday said that his party suspended cabinet minister Awadhesh Kushwaha, as it believes that the sting operation showing him accepting money allegedly in return for favours is true.

"The party believes that the sting operation is true. His ( Kushwaha) resignation has been sent to the Governor's house," Yadav told a press conference here.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday "suspended" Kushwaha after a sting video allegedly showing him receiving money in return for favours.

The suspension came barely 12 hours before the first phase of polling in Bihar.

According to the sting video, the advance was given to the suspended minister for benefitting a businessman after the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) comes to power in Bihar.
