TMC wants Nitish Kumar to win in Bihar Asselmy Elections

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said her party Trinamool Congress supports the Grand Secular Alliance in Bihar Assembly polls.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said her party Trinamool Congress supports the Grand Secular Alliance in Bihar Assembly polls.

Speaking at the state secretariat, she said that the tie-up between Lalu-Nitish along with Congress would work towards in developing Bihar.

She alleged that the central government was not co-operating with the state.

"It has stopped social work. Money for the poor has stopped. Already our social work has been impacted," she said.

TMC leader and state urban development minister Firhad Hakim said earlier that the TMC would support Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the Assembly poll, saying the communal forces needed to be "defeated".

"Our main focus is on Bihar poll presently. We want Nitish Kumar to win. We feel that the communal forces in the country need to be defeated. We have always stood by the minorities,"

Hakim's comment followed party supremo Mamata Banerjee's appeal to Bihar voters two days back to re-elect Nitish Kumar.

Asked why TMC is not directly attacking the BJP on the issue of communalism like other parties, Hakim said, "Why would we attack BJP, when they are completely irrelevant in Bengal? Why would we do it? We have condemned the incident of Dadri long back".
