Raipur: Four Naxals were today killed in an encounter with security forces, which also left one policeman dead, in Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh, police said.
On a tip off, a police squad was sent to Tirkanar forest area under Dhaudai police station for an operation. When the squad reached the forest area, ultras opened fire killing policeman Brujesh Singh on the spot. Police retaliated back and shot dead four Naxals, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur district, Mayank Srivastav said.
Three 12-bore pistols, explosives and some other material were also recovered from the spot, Srivastav said.
Following the incident, security in the area has been beefed up.
Police has also launched a man hunt to nab other Naxalites hiding in the area, he said.
