Raipur: Two Naxals carrying cash reward on their heads today surrendered and also handed over an IED to police in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district.
Padam Raju (20) and Tati Masa (30) turned themselves in before the district administration, senior police and CRPF officials, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh said.
A wanted Naxal, Raju was "deputy commander" of Badesetti LOS (local operation squad) of Kerlapal area committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), and was instrumental in executing several
Naxal incidents in the region.
He surrendered and also handed over to the police an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing around 8 kg, Singh said.
The other rebel Tati, who was working as a member of Palachalma LOS, was part of guerrilla squads that executed various deadly incidents in south Bastar, the ASP said.
Raju was carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head, while a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh was declared for the arrest of Tati, he said.
In their statements, the surrendered cadres claimed that provisions under surrender policy of Chhattisgarh government prompted them to lay down their arms and join the mainstream, he said.
Necessary assistance will be provided to them as per the rehabilitation and?surrender?policy of the government, Singh added.
