New Delhi: Two people were arrested here along with 10 kg of pseudoephedrine valued at Rs.40 lakh ($64,000) in the international market, police said Monday.

Shiv Singh Chauhan, 39, and Ram Ugrah, 57, were Friday nabbed following a tip-off from near the Jama Masjid area where they had gone to supply it to one of their contacts.

Chauhan said he came in contact with one Ajeet, a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh and a drug supplier, who offered him a lucrative deal for supplying pseudoephedrine.
"Chauhan agreed to Ajeet`s terms and conditions. He then met Ugrah, who has a shop at Bhagirath Palace (in the Chandni Chowk area of north Delhi)," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

"Ajeet would supply pseudoephedrine to Ugrah, who posed as the main supplier before customers brought by Chauhan. For this, Ugrah took commission from Chauhan," said Yadav.
Ajeet, the main supplier of pseudoephedrine, is still on the run.

The officer said pseudoephedrine is a kind of substance used for manufacturing narcotic drugs like Ecstasy, commonly used in rave parties.
