New Delhi: Even as hundreds of people from India and abroad begin to arrive in the national capital for the World Culture Festival, participants look up to the rain gods to show their mercy for the success of the mega event.
Rains lashed Delhi on Friday afternoon raising concerns whether the three-day global culture fest would pass smoothly since the wet weather could wreck havoc on the traffic.
Delhiites woke up to an overcast morning on Friday with the weatherman predicting light rains later in the day.
"The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 AM was 19 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal. The humidity was 80 per cent," a MeT official said.
Weatherman had predicted light rains in several parts of Delhi.
An uneasy calm prevailed in the sprawling complex on the fragile Yamuna flood plain as foot soldiers of the Art of Living struggled to put up a good show for the three-day World Culture Festival in the capital beginning on Friday.
The National Green Tribunal, an environment court, on Wednesday gave the go-ahead to the World Culture Festival, organised by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar-headed Art of Living, on the condition that it pay an advance fine of Rs 5 crore.
