New Delhi: In a big boost for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi High Court on Monday said it will not interfere with the AAP government's notification on Odd-Even formula.
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath last week had reserved its order on various pleas challenging the AAP government's ambitious pilot project to curb pollution.
While pronouncing its order, the HC asked the AAP government to take into account objections raised by all petitioners.
The Delhi HC fixed the date of next hearing on February 15.
In December, after the high court called Delhi a "gas chamber", the Aam Aadmi Party government decided to implement the scheme which allows odd-and even-numbered cars to ply on alternate dates.
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government on Sunday said that air pollution caused by vehicular traffic has declined by 50 percent in the national capital.
"More than 50 percent drop in air pollution primarily caused by vehicular traffic has been recorded according to the latest ambient air data collected by mobile teams of Delhi Pollution Control Committee on Saturday at 18 locations, through mobile dust samplers on using the light scattering technique," the government said in a statement.
Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has maintained that the odd-even car restriction scheme would not be extended beyond 15 days and termed as "false" reports saying it could go on.
