Activists of a Muslim organisation today held a protest here, demanding the government to take immediate steps to save those stranded in war-torn Iraq.

New Delhi: Activists of a Muslim organisation today held a protest here, demanding the government to take immediate steps to save those stranded in war-torn Iraq.

Leaders of Anjuman E Haideri held the protest at Jantar Mantar against the atrocities on Shias in Iraq and appealed to people to sign petitions to save religious places there which are under danger from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
"We would urge the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to held talks with the international community and call upon the ambassadors of all the foreign countries to discuss the matter," Kalbe Rushaid Rizvi, an Islamic scholar said.
"We want the Indians in Iraq to be saved and the barbaric act to be stopped for which we would appeal to the Modi government to intervene into the matter," Shabnam Zehrazabi, a woman present at the protest said.
