Soon after being named BJP's LoP in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta slams AAP govt

Even before assuming the office of Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, BJP leader Vijender Gupta on Wednesday took the AAP government to task over its dealing with media.

New Delhi: Even before assuming the office of Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, BJP leader Vijender Gupta on Wednesday took the AAP government to task over its dealing with media.

Launching a scathing attack on AAP's senior leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai, Vijender Gupta took to Twitter and said, “Gopal Rai has called mediapersons Dalals. I demand that he either apologises or be removed for abusing journalistic profession. If there is any truth then he should name such power brokers in media instead of casting aspersion on integrity of entire journalistic community.”

He further went on to say that Rai's highly objectionable statement on media reeks of arrogance and shows the undemocratic functioning of AAP-led Delhi govt.

Vijender Kumar Gupta, one of the three successful BJP candidates in Delhi Assembly, was today named by the party as the Leader of Opposition.

A member of the BJP's National Executive, Gupta was elected from West Delhi's Rohini constituency and has also been the president of the BJP's Delhi branch.

In the recently held Delhi elections, the BJP suffered a rout by winning only three seats. The AAP that won landslide majority had announced that it will give the BJP 'Leader of Opposition' status in the Delhi assembly even if it fell short of the numbers needed to qualify for the post.
