New Delhi: Chief Electoral Office of Delhi will hold special camps in all the 12,524 polling stations located in the 70 Assembly seats of the city this Sunday for preparing an error-free and authentic electoral roll.

The camps would be held in pursuance of the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) announced by the Election Commission.

The aim is linking and authentication of elector photo identity cards (EPIC) data of electors with the Aadhar data of UIDAI, corrections of errors or any relevant entry pertaining to electors, improvement of image quality and other facilitation services can be provided to them, officials said.

The April 12 camps will be held during 10 am to 4 pm. Booth Level Officers (BLO) will guide the voters about correction in electors' data. BLO will note down Aadhar number in his register during the camp.

"Voters with multiple registrations in the electoral rolls can come forward to delete their names. We have had a meeting with political parties who have also appreciated the move.

"It is voluntary disclosure scheme, till August 15. It is not mandatory but our electors' are aware and as a citizen it is duty to not hold more than one electoral entry," Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Chandra Bhushan Kumar said.

All complaints regarding deletion of names, correction in names, change of photograph and address, etc, would be disposed off within fifteen days of their receipt.

"Most of the citizen are mobile and keep shifting and somehow they miss to update their location. If it is linked with Aadhar then it becomes easy to self-check multiple enrollments. It will make each voter feel empowered by authenticating their details. BLO will make physical verification of each voter even after self authentication," Kumar said.

DCEO appealed to all the voters to attend the camps in their respective areas and help the administration in preparing an authenticated 100 per cent foolproof electoral roll.

"27,348 people have already done the feeding of their data. One camp will be every month so that more people can get their data verified. Next camps will be held on May 10, June 14 and July 12 respectively," Kumar said.

Voters can link their Aadhar number directly on the National Voters Service Portal - www.Nvsp.In. They can also send SMS to 51969 or dial toll free number 1950. Electors can make corrections when officials are on a door-to-door survey.
