Three arrested for robbing vehicles in South West Delhi

 Three youths who allegedly robbed off valuables, including mobile phones and laptops, from parked vehicles in South West Delhi after breaking open its window panes by slingshot (gulel) have been arrested, police said today.

New Delhi: Three youths who allegedly robbed off valuables, including mobile phones and laptops, from parked vehicles in South West Delhi after breaking open its window panes by slingshot (gulel) have been arrested, police said today.

The three accused -- Deepak (22), Rajiv (26) and Murari (27) were involved in cases of thefts from vehicles, which had seen an increase in last six months. Rajiv was nabbed by cops near ISKCON temple in East of Kailash on July 7, DCP South West R A Sanjeev said today.

During interrogation, he gave information about gang leader Dipak and Murari who used to buy the stolen goods. Dipak was arrested from Old Palam Road, Kakrola while Murari was picked up from his shop in Nehru Place, the officer said.

Explaining their modus operandi, police said the gang targeted parked vehicles and used to break open their window panes with a slingshot. They would then rob off the valuables including laptops and mobile phones from inside the vehicles.

Thirteen laptops stolen by them were also recovered and further investigation is on to arrest their other accomplices and to recover the valuables stolen by them, he added.
