Why Brexit is a harbinger of climate change?

New Delhi: Brexit is a sheer example of generation gap. Now that it happened, the younger generation of Britain will have to bear the brunt of the decision made by today's older generation, for their entire life.

Amidst all the fear, sadness and guilt, recently Amber Rudd, energy secretary and a leading voice of 'Remain Campaign', pointed out that Brexit will make it harder for United Kingdom (UK) to deal with climate change.

While addressing the Business and Climate summit in London she said that UK's role in dealing with a warming planet may have been made harder after the results of EU referendum.

UK has always been a leading advocate for EU climate policy since 1997 but its exit spells a bad news for nation's own climate.

Some of the environmental challenges like air, pollution, loss of biodiversity, habitats destruction- do not respect national boundaries and needs joint intervention. But the lack of internal cooperation will now make it harder to deal with them which will thereby cause detrimental effect globally.
