New Delhi: As the countdown for the 16th Lok Sabha General Elections has begun, India’s oldest and most respected news network in collaboration with TALEEM Research Foundation, an established name in the field of poll surveys and research, hosts the second edition of its comprehensive and credible Opinion Poll.

The second leg of the ongoing Zee News and TALEEM Opinion Poll has covered 66 parliamentary constituencies spread across 23 states with a sample size of 15377 respondents to determine the voting mood of the people.

The second phase Opinion Poll comes in continuation of the first phase to access changes, if any, in the minds of the voters. The second phase of the poll was conducted from 24th March to April 1, 2014.

The rationale of conducting the Opinion Poll for the second time by Zee News is to get an insight into what a common voter thinks ahead of the polling for 111 Lok Sabha Seats due in four phases from April 7, 2014 to April 12, 2014.
The poll comes at a time when all major political parties have announced majority of their candidates. The Opinion Poll has covered all important issues facing the voter today including the situation of the economy, anti-incumbency, Prime Ministerial aspirants and potential vote share parties would garner at the polls. The Opinion Poll also seeks opinion on the issue of the possibility of a Third Front government.

The highlight of the second edition of Zee News-TALEEM Research Foundation is the emergence of BJP led alliance as the popular choice among respondents. Over 43.1% people said they would like to cast their vote for BJP and its alliance, 25.9% people for the INC and its alliance and 30.9% people favored the regional parties including the CPI & CPM.

The second phase of the poll includes the feedback from voters in Delhi. The polled respondents predicted four seats for BJP while AAP and INC can get three and one seat respectively.

Zee News initiative of the opinion poll maintains absolute transparency. The survey aims to provide accurate predictions for each party and their alliances at both National and State level based on feedback from respondents.

Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor, Zee News said, “Our previous Opinion Poll revealed key issues facing the nation. The second edition gives an insight into the voters mind at the time of the poll.”

The Opinion Poll would be simulcast on Zee Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand, Zee Madhya Pradesh Chattisgarh, Zee Marudhara, Zee Purvaiya and Zee Kalinga.
