Congress slogan should be `Mar Jawan Mar Kisan`, says Narendra Modi at Baghpat rally

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Congress Government`s slogan should be `Mar Jawan Mar Kisan` in place of former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri`s famous slogan `Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.`

Baghpat: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Congress Government`s slogan should be `Mar Jawan Mar Kisan` in place of former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri`s famous slogan `Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.`

"Lal Bahadur Shastri used the slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan", but the Congress Government believes in "Mar Jawan Mar Kisan," said Modi.
"Shehzaada (Crown Prince Rahul Gandhi) told reporters that Modi is an ideology, and I am proud of it. My ideology is that country is before self, and it`s not all about the family," he said.

"Live for the country, die for the country, this is our ideology, and you (Rahul Gandhi) cannot compete with this ideology," he added.
He further said that Chaudhary Charan Singh took on the Congress for its anti-farmer policies, whereas his son (Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh) went and sat in the Congress` lap.

"Chaudhary Charan Singh was fed up of Congress and its policies against farmers. We admire him, but his son isn`t following his path. Singh took on the Congress for its anti-farmer policies, but his son went and sat in the Congress` lap," said Modi.

"Will you trust those people who betrayed their father`s legacy? Bahhpat needs a grounded leader, not a flying one," he said.

He also said that the condition of Uttar Pradesh was such that if there were no power cuts in a day it made news.

"In Gujarat, if the electricity goes off ,it makes news, but in Uttar Pradesh, if there is electricity, it makes news," he said.
