New Delhi: A day after BJP`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed a rally in West Bengal`s Asansol, the Trinamool Congress on Monday complained to the Election Commission against the Gujarat Chief Minister, accusing him of violating poll code.
In the complaint, the TMC stated that Modi violated EC`s code and was seeking votes in the name of religion.
The BJP leader had addressed two rallies in West Bengal on Sunday in Bankura and Asansol.
In Bankura public rally, Modi had retorted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (who had earlier called him a “paper tiger”), saying that a real tiger gets the culprits behind Saradha chitfund scam jailed.
In the Asansol rally, Modi targeted the poll panel over its failure to stop rigging during elections in West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
He further said that despite government machinery at its disposal, it has still failed to check rigging.
