Canadian tourist raped in Goa, J&K man held

A man hailing from Jammu and Kashmir was on Saturday arrested for allegedly raping a Canadian tourist in the coastal village of Arambol in north Goa.

Panaji: A man hailing from Jammu and Kashmir was on Saturday arrested for allegedly raping a Canadian tourist in the coastal village of Arambol in north Goa.

According to Inspector Devendra Gad of Pernem police station, the accused Alan from Ladakh had befriended a Canadian woman on Friday morning, before raping her the same night.

"He met her along Arambol beach and they even shared a few beers. In the night he followed her to her guest house, accosted and beat her up and then raped her," Gad said.

The accused does some odd jobs in Arambol and could probably be involved in some other attacks involving foreign tourists, the officer said.
