Louis Berger bribery case: Court to decide former Goa CM's pre-arrest bail plea on Wednesday

A local court will on Wednesday pronounce order on the anticipatory bail application of the former Chief Minister of Goa Digambar Kamat in the Louis Berger bribery case.

Panaji: A local court will on Wednesday pronounce order on the anticipatory bail application of the former Chief Minister of Goa Digambar Kamat in the Louis Berger bribery case.

District judge BP Deshpande would pass the order on the plea arguments on which concluded last week.

Former public works department minister Churchill Alemao has already been arrested in the case which came to light after Louis Berger, a US-based firm, claimed that it had paid bribe to an Indian minister to win consultancy for a water project in Goa.

Kamat's lawyer Surendra Desai argued that his client was not the Chief Minister when the project was conceived in 2004-05, or when the consultancy contract was awarded in 2007.

The bribe was allegedly paid in 2010 when Kamat was the Chief Minister.

Police have arrested four people, including Alemao, and have questioned Kamat twice.
