United Nations: The menacing Ebola virus is claiming lives of many by the hour. UN's Ebola coordinator has annouced that over one billion dollars are needed to fight the West Africa Ebola outbreak.
Senior United Nations System Coordinator for Ebola Virus Disease, David Nabarro made the announcement as the World Health Organisation (WHO) described the health crisis as "unparalleled in modern times", as reported.
According to the UN representative, the needs of the organization have increased tenfold in August and they will continue to grow if the number of people infected with the fever further increases.
US President Barack Obama is expected to announce plans to send 3,000 troops to Liberia, one of countries worst-affected by the outbreak, to help fight the virus.
The outbreak, which began in Guinea, later spread to its neighbours Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and Senegal.WHO informed that the disease has left 2,461 people killed this year, half of the 4,985 infected by the virus.
