38 fresh dengue cases; total 1,086 in Delhi

New Delhi: Dengue cases in the capital reached 1,086, with 38 people testing positive for the mosquito-borne disease Friday.

While 37 cases were reported from three municipal corporations, one was reported from the NDMC area, official data revealed.

Of 37 new cases, 10 were reported from the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, 12 from North Delhi Municipal Corporation areas, and the remaining 15 from the South Delhi Municipal Corporation area, official data showed.

Since dengue hit the capital this year, South Delhi Municipal Corporation continues to have the largest number of cases, with 407 so far this year.

Two people have died of dengue-related complications in the national capital this year.

In 2011, a total of 789 cases were reported; this year, 1,096 cases have already been reported, and the number of those infected continues to rise, even as the temperature has begun to drop.

In 2010, a total of 5,456 dengue cases were recorded in Delhi.
