Bangkok: A Dutchman suspected to have contracted the Ebola disease has been cleared after blood tests showed negative for the deadly virus, confirmed the health ministry on Tuesday.
Dr Opas Karnkavinpong, Deputy Director General of the Department of Disease Control said lab technicians tested the blood of the 52-year-old Netherlands national for the second time Monday and the results were negative.
The man, who departed from Ebola-stricken Nigeria Aug 28, arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday with a fever.
He was then isolated at Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok.
Doctors also stopped monitoring 21 people who had been in contact with him.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 2,400 people had died of the deadly virus out of the 4,784 confirmed cases.
