Govt employees to enjoy rafting, jungle safaris to enhance risk-taking capacities

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) feels that adventure sports will cull the impact of stress and sedentary life on government servants.

New Delhi: Yoga is widely known for reducing stress levels and calming the mind and body recently, government employees were advised to practice it for the same reasons.

However, in order to increase and enhance their risk-taking capacities, all central government employees have been asked to now take up forms of adventure sports like jungle safaris and river rafting.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) feels that adventure sports will cull the impact of stress and sedentary life on government servants.

To further increase their productivity, gyms at workplaces are being set up.

According to ibnlive.com, a memorandum issued by the DoPT states that, “Healthy employees are happy employees. A positive and energetic work force collaborates better and is more appealing to customers, which means investing in gym will improve the functioning and image of an organisation.”

Institutes that have been approved for this purpose by the government include Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh, Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering, Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, National Institute of Water Sports, Vasco da Gama, Goa and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand have been approved for this purpose by the government.
