New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Centre to examine the issue of alleged non availability of generic drugs and vaccines.

It has seeked a response from Centre on a PIL on the alleged non-implementation of National Health Policy, 2002, on making use of generic drugs and vaccines not implemented properly thus leading to a shortage of cheap drugs.

"Right to health is a fundamental right and non-availability of cheap drugs has forced poor people to buy costly branded drugs," the apex court said.
