Canberra: The health officials on Friday said that the man who was suspected with the deadly disease Ebola, tested negative in Australia.

The 25-year-old man started complaining of Ebola-like symptoms on Thursday. He had recently arrived back in Australia from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa. The regular symptoms of Ebola are high fever headache, joint and muscle aches, sore throat, weakness, stomach pain and lack of appetite.

It was most unlikely that the Ebola virus disease would make it to Australia, the officials said.

But anyone who had travelled to the west of African region affected by the outbreak and who were concerned about their health should visit a doctor.

In the African nations of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria, more than 2,200 people have died in an Ebola outbreak from more than 4,200 infections.
