Swine flu claims six lives in Gujarat, toll reaches 368

After six more people succumbed to swine flu Thursday, the total count of fatalities reached 368 in Gujarat since January this year, a release issued by the Gujarat state Health department said.

Ahmedabad: After six more people succumbed to swine flu Thursday, the total count of fatalities reached 368 in Gujarat since January this year, a release issued by the Gujarat state Health department said.

Besides these deaths, 75 new H1N1 (swine flu) cases were detected today, taking the total number of cases to 5,969, it said.

"As many as six swine flu deaths have been reported in Gujarat, taking the toll to 368 in the state," the Gujarat Health department statement said.

"Six deaths have been reported today in Gujarat, which includes one each in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Patan, Anand and Surendranagar districts," the statement said.

However, the Gujarat Government health department claimed that 4,955 people who were infected, have been cured and discharged from hospitals.
