Ghaziabad: District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma on Wednesday asked all concerned officials of veterinary, health and forest department to take preventive measures to check the incidence of bird flu (Avian flu) virus in the district.
In a meeting convened at the collectorate, Sharma also directed the officials to initiate awareness programs for the public about the bird flu virus and inform them about precautions to be taken by them.
Uttar Pradesh government has already issued Avian Flu alert across the state and issued directions for enforcement of containment plan.
As per the order, the officials are supposed to cull out the birds as and when required and to conduct disinfection activities.
Sharma directed the chief veterinary officer to inspect all poultry farms located near water bodies, ponds where migratory birds are arriving from distant places.
A 24x7 vigil must be maintained at borders to restrict the inflow of contaminated poultry products and meat into the district from other states.
