Tamil Nadu and Singapore Tuesday agreed to share their experiences in the health sector with each other, with the former coming under praise for its various schemes.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu and Singapore Tuesday agreed to share their experiences in the health sector with each other, with the former coming under praise for its various schemes.

Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar held a meeting with a Singapore delegation here, an official release said.

The Singapore delegation was apprised of the various schemes being implemented by Tamil Nadu government, including the Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme, operation of neonatal ambulances and the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care?CEmONC-Centres, it said.

Such schemes helped in reducing the Infant Mortality Rate and the Maternity Mortality Rate and Tamil Nadu fared better in these areas, registering lower ratios than the national ones, the state government informed the delegation.

"The Singapore medical team lauded the various health schemes pertaining to contagious and non-contagious diseases and others," it said.

Further, it was decided that Tamil Nadu and Singapore will share their experiences in the health sector, it said.
