New Delhi: Emerging after the meeting held at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here on Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas said the CBI "raid on the Chief Minister's Office" (CMO) was an attempt to divert attention from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) "graft" issue, but however Finance Minister Arun Jaitley uses CBI, he would not succeed.
"We will come out with details concerning the DDCA before the press on Thursday," said Vishwas.
When asked whether the Delhi Government would constitute a committee to look into the DDCA issue, he said it would become clear tomorrow (on Thursday).
Kejriwal on Tuesday alleged that the CBI was searching for the DDCA files aimed at searching files related to graft cases, in which Jaitley was involved.
Jaitley, however, rubbished Kejriwal's allegation.
A CBI spokesperson on Tuesday flatly denied reports about a search being conducted at the office of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. "Such reports are completely baseless." "The CBI emphatically denies having searched the office of the Delhi Chief Minister, said spokesperson Devpreet Singh, adding that "false propaganda should not used to impede the CBI's investigations".
Meanwhile, hitting back at Kejriwal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma said,
"Kejriwal has made slanderous and unfounded allegation against various people without any evidence. He should redesign his strategy. He just wants to be the protagonist of all breaking news possible. And, he is more interested in running Twitter account than the Delhi Government."
Echoing a similar sentiment, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said, "Kejriwal's assertions and his body language show his desperation."
"Some kind of question mark can be seen in his behaviour. It seems that the Delhi Secretariat has become a home for corrupt people. If someone has to give an award of 'liar of the year' or 'u-turn of the year', then it should be given to Kejriwal. Is Kejriwal fighting against corruption or supporting it? Why he is distressed with it? Why he is reacting in haste?" he sought to know.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar was on Wednesday again questioned by the CBI in connection with a corruption case. Earlier, he was questioned by the CBI for about seven hours late on Tuesday night after the probe agency sleuths raided his office at the Delhi Secretariat.
Kumar has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of criminal conspiracy, and also under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly favouring a private company in five contracts worth Rs. 9.5 crores during 2007-14.
